The Thendele Camp has a very scenic position. Each chalet boasts a view of the famous Amphitheatre. The camp lies below the limestone rocks of Dooley among Yellowwood trees and proteas. One can hear the soft murmur of the Thukela river.

The restcamp consists of 26 completely equipped chalets for 2 to 4 persons. And there are two cottages, each with 6 beds, and a 5-star luxury lodge with 3 bedrooms and a bath, situated at a distance from the main camp. Cottage and lodge offer the services of a chef. The little supermarket stocks basic necessities and lots of curios.

The Royal Natal National Park offers two beautiful and very popular campgrounds. The bigger one - Mahai - has 40 sites and lies at the Mahai River, not far from the visitors' centre. The other campground is called Rugged Glen and lies in a more remote position in the eastern part of the nature reserve.

An extensive hiking guide for the Royal Natal Park is availble at the visitors' centre of the park. The hikes can take between 1 day and a couple of days. The brochure also contains a detailed map with all the hiking trails..

An easy (30 min.) and very scenic route for everybody leads to the Cascades and the McKinlay's Pool, where one can go for a swim or have a picnic.

Warning: The weather can change unforeseeably. Hikers should be well equipped and put their names down in the Mountain Rescue Register prior to starting the hike.
