Subtropical KwaZulu-Natal offers such variety of tourist attractions like no other part of South Africa. Wonderful wide beaches on the warm Indian Ocean at the South Coast, in the metropolis of Durban and at the North Coast, Zululand Coast or the Elephant Coast up to Mozambique.
Hikers and nature lovers will come into their own in the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg with the Royal Natal National Park, Champagne Castle, Monk's Cowl, Giant's Castle Game Reserve or in the Southern Berg region. Anglers can have their turn in the romantic Midlands. And for those interested in the colonial history, there is the Battlefields Region. And several cultural villages in Zululand give you an idea of the culture of the Zulu people as it used to be in the last century. Or do some of everything and relax in between in splendid natural surroundings.
Naturally KwaZulu-Natal provides first class safari experiences in their expansive nature and wildlife parks teaming with game. A favourite is the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi (Umfolozi) Game Reserve, known for its many rhinos. In the Mkhuze Game Reserve one can also gain a good insight into the impressive wildlife world of Southern Africa. And in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park (previously St Lucia Wetland Park) close encounters with crocodiles and hippos are guaranteed.
There are several other game reserves in KwaZulu-Natal, less known but all worth to be visited, e.g. the Ithala Game Reserve, the Pongola Nature Reserve, the Ndumo Game Reserve or the Tembe Elephant Park in the far north, bordering Mozambique.
